The developer behind Tankly
Tankly is an aquarium tracking app developed by Piyush Golan. When this policy says "we", "us", or "our", it means Piyush Golan operating Tankly.

Only what the app needs
We collect the minimum data required to run Tankly properly:
- Account data — Your Google account name, email, and profile photo, obtained when you sign in via Google OAuth.
- Tank & aquarium data — Parameters (pH, temperature, etc.), livestock, equipment, and maintenance logs you enter.
- Usage data — Your daily streak count and app activity, used for the streak feature.
- Community data — Posts, photos, and comments you voluntarily share in the community section.
- Device data — Anonymous crash reports and basic diagnostics to help us fix bugs. No personally identifiable information is included.
Core features, nothing else
- To provide logging, syncing, and restoring your aquarium data.
- To display your streak, profile, and community contributions.
- To generate AI-powered water quality suggestions (Pro only) — uses your parameter data, not your identity.
- To send important account emails (subscription confirmation, deletion confirmation).
- To improve app stability using anonymous crash data.
We never sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties for marketing.
Where your data lives
Your data is stored across two cloud services:
- Firebase (Google) — Stores your streak, tanks, parameter history, and account info. Servers located in the US/EU.
- Supabase (AWS) — Stores community posts, photos, and public profile data. Servers in the EU.
Both services use encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. We follow their respective data processing agreements.
Data handling by plan
- Free users — Your streak and first tank are backed up to the cloud. All other tank data remains local on your device only.
- Pro users — All tanks, full parameter history, livestock, equipment, and profile are backed up after every significant change.
In both cases, local data on your device is entirely under your control.
GDPR & general rights
You have the right to:
- Access — Request a copy of all data we hold about you.
- Correction — Ask us to fix inaccurate data.
- Deletion — Delete your account anytime via Settings → Account → Delete account. This erases your profile, posts, photos, and auth record from our servers immediately.
- Portability — Request your data in a machine-readable format.
- Objection — Object to processing of your data for any purpose.

Under 13? Not for you.
Tankly is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us immediately and we will delete it.
Who else touches your data
Tankly integrates with these services, each governed by their own privacy policy:
- Google Sign-In — authentication. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google Play Billing — Pro subscriptions. Payment data handled entirely by Google — we never see your card details.
- Firebase — cloud database and analytics. See Firebase Privacy.
- Supabase — community database. See Supabase Privacy.
If this policy changes
We may update this policy as Tankly evolves. We'll notify you of material changes via an in-app notice or email. Continued use of Tankly after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
